20 Biggest Things The Harry Potter Movies Left Out
2. Teddy Lupin
In The Book
Teddy Lupin is born to the doomed couple of Remus and Tonks who tragically perish in the Battle Of Hogwarts, named after his grandfather who is murdered by Voldemort's forces earlier. After the death of his parents, Teddy is brought up by his grandmother, attends Hogwarts and appears in the book's epilogue at Kings Cross to see his girlfriend off.
In The Film
Teddy was cut entirely from the Epilogue, despite Luke Newberry being cast. He's only mentioned by Remus to Harry at one point, taking away some of the added sting of the finale.
Was It A Positive Cut?
No, it was wholly unnecessary. Teddy was a key element of the Epilogue, particularly as his birth mirrored that of Harry, but his life was in stark contrast as he grew up in a safe new world. Perhaps the film-makers thought that killing off Tonks and Remus was enough of a tragedy without then reminding everyone that their son was left alive alone? But that was sort of the point.
