20 Biggest Things The Harry Potter Movies Left Out
3. Harry's Final Offer
In The Book
During their final encounter, Harry suggests to Voldemort that he “Think, and try for some remorse,” which shocks Voldemort massively. Even after all, Harry tries to help his greatest enemy: “It’s your one last chance... I’ve seen what you’ll be otherwise... Be a man… try… Try for some remorse…”
In The Film
No such exchange exists in the movie, and nor does Voldemort's duel against Horace Slughorn, Kingsley Shacklebolt and McGonagall all at once.
Was It A Positive Cut?
No. It absolutely fits Harry's arc for him to seek the goodness that might remain in Voldemort, given that the entire series is concerned with proving that good (or light) can exist in even the darkest places. It is the culmination of his arc that he is never lost to vengeance, and rather would try to find the faintest glimmer of hope that he can reason with Riddle.
It wouldn't have even required much to keep the line in there, particularly as Voldemort's rejection of it proves he has no humanity at all left and is a lost cause.
