20 Comic Book Films You Should Die Before You See

16. Superman III

Constantine Hell
Warner Bros.

Critics can debate whether this film is better or worse than Superman IV: The Quest For Peace, but that was a picture from Cannon Films, so expectations were understandably diminished.

Superman III not only had a decent budget, but the cast included Robert Vaughn and Richard Pryor, and the director was Richard Lester. Unfortunately, Lester turns his back on the previous films and invites us to laugh at the characters rather than with them.

For the record, no Superman movie should ever open with a slapstick sequence involving penguins.
