20 Comic Book Movies That Are Practically Flawless
18. Road To Perdition (2002)
It's easy to forget that Sam Mendes' crime-drama Road to Perdition was based on a comic book, because the truth is it has very little that gives its origins away.
Based on Max Collins' graphic novel of the same name, the haunting drama follows a mob enforcer (Tom Hanks) as he's forced to go on the run with his young son (Tyler Hoechlin) after he witnesses an assassination that shakes the very foundation of their lives.
With its gloomy tone, stunning cinematography and limited dialogue, Road to Perdition is dark and sombre without much optimism, but finds hope in the fraught father-son relationship at its core.
If that wasn't enough, it also soars with its packed cast, which finds Hanks and his co-stars Hoechlin, Paul Newman, Daniel Craig, and Stanley Tucci on impossibly good form, matching the film's impeccable twists and turns scene-for-scene.
