20 Comic Book Movies That Are Practically Flawless

15. Kick-Ass (2010)

Captain America Civil War
Universal

Based on the comic book of the same name by Mark Millar and John Romita, Kick-Ass is a superhero comedy that takes aim at the subgenre's many tropes, and also serves as fairly fantastic superhero movie in its own right.

Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the eponymous vigilante, a geeky teen who decides to become a hero after an accident and who quickly finds himself out of his depth when he meets two real-life heroes and their violent mob adversaries, the comedy soars with its foul-mouthed vulgarities and hysterical performances.

Aided by the uncomfortably hilarious work of Nicolas Cage and Chloƫ Grace Moretz and its senseless gore, Kick-Ass is twisted and bursting with astute observations about the culture of superhero movies and its many stereotypes.

Comic book movies rarely come funnier than this. As great as it is, though, you'd do well to stay clear of its disastrous sequel...
