20 Comic Book Movies That Are Practically Flawless
14. The Crow (1994)
Adapted from James O'Barr's cult comic series of the same name, The Crow is probably best remembered today for the tragic death of its star, Brandon Lee, who was killed by a prop gun whilst filming.
Though this is horrifying and makes the film's final act tough to watch, it's something of a comfort to see Lee left behind a genuinely great movie, which follows a murdered rocker who's resurrected by a mystical crow and given the opportunity to seek vengeance against those who wronged him.
Built around 90s metal and grunge culture and sporting a dark, almost apocalyptic aesthetic stylistically comparable to Tim Burton's Batman, the movie is very much a product of its time, but is all the better for it.
Brandon Lee's death is a painfully hard one to stomach, but The Crow is nonetheless a nightmarish gothic thriller that makes for a powerful and haunting viewing experience everyone should tick off their watchlist.
