20 Creepiest Stephen King Movie Moments

8. Cockroach Takeover - Creepshow (1982)

In 1982, Stephen King and George Romero teamed up for an E.C. Comics-inspired horror anthology, Creepshow. While there are several equally disturbing moments throughout the proceedings, the film concludes at its strongest with They€™re Creeping Up On You, a short and fun gross-out piece written specifically for the film by Mr. King. Upson Pratt (E. G. Marshall) is a vindictive, coldblooded businessman who lives a solitary life in a hermetically sealed apartment controlled completely with electric locks and surveillance cameras. During a particularly severe lightning storm he finds himself looking out over New York City as a rolling blackout travels his way. When it hits his apartment tower, the tycoon finds himself helpless when his flat becomes overrun by countless hordes of aggressive multi-sized cockroaches - perhaps symbolizing the revenge of all the €œlittle people€ he has spent his entire life stepping on. As the cockroaches begin to overrun him, he locks himself inside a panic room, only to find that they have already infested the room. With no way to escape, the roaches swarm on him, and eventually grotesquely burst out from his corpse. It€™s the kind of gleeful social justice that the real-world so rarely provides, but the fantastical world of horror fiction can. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AicCiG03O3c
