Stephen King brings us three short horror tales in this enjoyable and delightfully humorous horror anthology. The stories are connected only by the presence of a traveling cat. The cat plays an incidental role in the first two and is a major character of the third. The final segment, General, was written specifically for the film (and for the talents of the Firestarter herself, Drew Barrymore). This segment follows the efforts of a breath-stealing troll who is terrorizing young Barrymore. General (as the cat is now named) intercedes, but draws the ire of her parents who believe the stray cat to be the cause of the late-night shenanigans. The final showdown between General and the Troll (go with it) is what truly makes this film memorable. Crayons are hurled like javelins, backflips are employed, and a roller skate is used as a weapon and a mode of conveyance. How often do you see a cat dueling an evil gnome atop a child's record player as a terrible cover of The Police's Every Breath You Take plays in triple-time? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jef2dv15obI
