20 Most Cringeworthy Moments In The New Star Trek Movies

8. Drunken Scotty From Star Trek Into Darkness

Paramount PicturesParamount PicturesHas anyone else imagined an alternate version of Star Trek Into Darkness, in which Kirk, suspecting something sinister behind his mission to Kronos, stages an elaborate public scene in which Scotty resigns over the new torpedoes, specifically so Kirk can leave Scott behind to investigate? No? Just us, then? The one striking benefit of such a scenario would be to obviate the need for this scene in the movie, in which a drunken Scotty hangs out in a San Francisco bar with his... what is that thing, anyway? He takes a call on his Nokia flip-phone from Kirk and has a faux drunk and not-so-funny conversation in which Kirk begs him to check out Admiral Marcus' secret project. That's another thing, the alternate version would make our heroes look that much more intelligent rather than like the big dupes they are. Sigh.
