20 Most Cringeworthy Moments In The New Star Trek Movies
7. Carol Marcus Fan Service From Star Trek Into Darkness
While Bibi Besch, god rest her soul, was a beautiful woman, there are very few viewers outside of the Fifty Shades of Grey crowd who would've wanted to see her almost naked in 1982. Alice Eve in 2013 is a different story, probably. And it wasn't just the heterosexual women (and the homosexual men) in the audience cringing at the sheer absurdity of the moment. Script writer Damon Lindelof took to Twitter not long after the movies release to say that he regretted the scene, feeling it was "gratuitous." Some reviewers said it at least gave Eve something to do, since she isn't used for much else. But David Marcus can't just spring into being from Carol's head, can he? Scenes like this must've helped the original conception along. We just wouldn't have wanted to see them. Ick.
