20 Most Cringeworthy Moments In The New Star Trek Movies

13. "Hi, Christopher, I'm Nero" From Star Trek

What in the name of all that's holy is wrong with Eric Bana in this movie? He's got as much subtlety as a red pepper in a pair of gym shorts. Even when he's underplaying it, he's underplaying it in the weirdest way. We do get it: Nero has lost his family in the worst way possible, and he's been waiting twenty-five years for revenge. That's bound to cause anybody to go... well, weird. We also doubt that anyone would want him in full-on shouty vengeance mode for the whole movie. But the nadir of this extraordinary performance comes when Pike addresses Nero from the Enterprise and we get Nero's laconic reply: "Hi, Chris, I'm Nero." Less like an enemy greeting the man he's about to try to kill and more like someone saying hello to someone on Chatroulette, only without the flashing of naughty bits. In both cases, you're left thinking, "Who told this person that this was a good idea?"
