17. "I Have Had Enough Of You!" - Star Trek III: The Search For Spock
There are a few moments in this movie that deserve Honorable Mentions - some folks can't stomach Sulu's "Don't call me 'Tiny'" line or Uhura's scene with "Mr. Adventure". But the biggest one that causes cringing is the climactic final battle between Kirk and Klingon Captain Kruge. (We should mention that Kruge's mourning over his dead pet targ would make some people's list, but it's so brief that it's barely worth hitting the fast forward button.) As the Genesis planet falls apart around them, Kirk and Kruge engage in fisticuffs until Kruge is hanging over a precipice above raging lakes of lava. Kirk, being ostensibly a good guy despite all evidence to the contrary, tries to help him up but almost gets pulled over the edge for his troubles. Kirk then decides to rhythmically kick Kruge in the face while shouting, "I...have had...enough...of
you!" and timing his kicks with each accented syllable. Except that he doesn't do it quite that way. Instead, it comes off more like this: "I (kick)...have had (kick)...enough of
you (kick)!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XS4s3XXNLiE Now, whether Shatner simply doesn't know how that line scans, or whether Lloyd just didn't want to be kicked four times rather than three, it still seems just a bit awkward. While it's a
small cringe, it makes the metrically-minded among us briefly unhappy.
