20 Depraved Movies Only Truly Sick Individuals Could Enjoy

5. Murder-Set-Pieces (2004)

Headless Movie
Blackwatch Releasing

Upon its release, Nick Palumbo's Murder-Set-Pieces arrived with the claim of being the most brutal and visceral horror film ever made, proudly boasting of being banned by a long list of festivals, as well as several processing labs. On top of this, the film was withdrawn from circulation for suitably shady "legal reasons", all of which certainly seemed to suggest that it was indeed the genuine article.

Well, no one can accuse the filmmakers of false advertising. The entire plot is right there in its title. Featuring over 30 killings, the homicidal narrative has little else on its agenda outside of giving its antagonist an uninterrupted stage to hack and slash his way through every hooker in sight.

From past interviews it's quite clear that Palumbo is obviously very proud of his work. He seemed to deliberately set out to make the most controversial picture ever made, but his film comes off as nothing more than the overactive imagination of a pseudo artist. It's too trashy to be seen as a serious "shocking" portrait of a killer and it's not fun enough to be seen as great exploitation.
