20 Doctor Who Actors Who Have Been In Star Wars (& 2 Who Will Be)
21. Malcolm Tierney
Tierney turned in a solid performance as Doland, the assistant to the misguided Professor Lasky in the Doctor Who adventure Terror of the Vervoids, which comprised episodes 9 to 12 of Colin Baker's The Trial of a Time Lord series. The greedy Doland wants to sell the plant-like Vervoids as slaves on Earth, only to die eventually at their hands. But Star Wars aficionados know Tierney as officer Lt. Shann Childsen in A New Hope. Stationed in the Death Star's Detention Block AA-23, he's the Imperial officer who says, upon seeing the not-really-handcuffed Chewbacca, Where are you taking this thing?. It's the start of a great scene and Tierney says his line with the perfect degree of disdain.
