20 Dumbest Moments In DC Movies

10. Gus Gorman Steals The Movie From Superman - Superman III

The most common complaint about Superman III the decision to not only cast Richard Pryor in the goofy comic relief role of computer genius Gus Gorman, but give him an unbelievably substantial role that often appears to overshadow the Man of Steel himself. The film is full of goofy antics that feel engineered around Pryor's presence, while Superman's part feels like an afterthought, as though Pryor's casting was secured first and a script was written to reflect that. Yes, Reeve still gives a solid performance in the title role and there are a few nice touches on the duality of the Superman character, but you'll have to sit through scene upon scene of insufferable Pryor shtick to get to it. And it kinda sucks for Pryor, too, because the guy's standup work is hilarious, but here he's just a thorough irritation.
