There was much controversy when it was first announced that 2011's Green Lantern movie would see Ryan Reynolds wearing an entirely CGI costume rather than the usual, you know, physical suit. Early footage and trailers didn't really provide much hope, but Warner insisted that they were working on the visual effects right up until release, and they would look great in the final cut of the movie. They didn't. It's painfully obvious throughout that Reynolds is covered by a digital monstrosity: the real and fake elements don't combine together well, and just summarise a film that paid far too much attention to CGI and not enough to a well-executed narrative.
