Marion Cotillard is an Oscar-winning actress and did fantastic work in Christopher Nolan's previous movie, Inception, so why wouldn't he want her to be part of his final Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises? It's revealed at the end, of course, that Cotillard's "Miranda Tate" is in fact Talia al Ghul, daughter of Ra's, and she's in fact the mastermind behind the terrorist activities in Gotham. Her plans to detonate a bomb are scuppered, however, when Bats explodes her armoured vehicle carrying the bomb, making it crash over a metal partition, falling to a lower section of road. While Talia's internal injuries overcome her, she tells Batman that there's nothing he can do to stop the bomb going off, before letting out three laboured breaths, closing her eyes and shaking her head as she expires. It's a widely-mocked scene because the acting is so damn terrible: it's like a child pretending to play dead, and it's astounding that Nolan didn't have a better take to work with.
Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes).
