20 Easter Eggs From Spider-Man: No Way Home You May Have Missed

7. I Thought You'd Be Black

During the battle that takes up the final third of the film, Jamie Foxx's Electro has his power source (a Stark arc reactor he stole) negated by Doc Ock, draining him of electricity and taking him out of the fight.

Spider-Garfield takes a moment to check on him, making sure he has survived the fight. While doing so, he removes his mask, revealing himself to Max. Max, considering what just happened to him, handles this smoothly, telling Peter that he was very surprised that a guy who wears a mask and costume and helps lots of poor people wasn't Black.

He finishes this excellent scene by saying he hopes that there's a 'Black Spider-Man out there somewhere.'

Max is, of course, alluding to Miles Morales, a well-established Spider-Man who has appeared in comics, his own game, and the excellent animated feature 'Into the Spider-Verse.' While both Sony and Marvel have said that 'Spider-Verse' is not canon, this mention of a Black Spider-Man would seem to be setting the MCU up for a future appearance by Miles.

As an even younger hero than 'our' Peter, bringing Miles into the MCU would be an ideal opportunity for Peter to take on a mentoring role, much like Peter did for Miles in 'Spider-Verse'.

It was a great inclusion and Foxx's delivery of the lines was perfect.
