8. With Great Power...

The 'With great power...' quote is perhaps the most repeated and best known superhero mantra ever. It first appeared in Amazing Fantasy 15 in 1962, the world's introduction to Spider-Man. The story finished with Peter's realization as the new Spider-Man that ' With great power there must also come great responsibility'

The line really hit the world's consciousness when Sam Raimi included in the 2002 Spider-Man. That movie, however, shortened the line to 'With great power comes great responsibility'; the words that Uncle Ben says to Peter as he dies.

After this, that became the most well-known and most used/parodied line, to the point where even non-comic fans could likely finish the line if you gave them the first few words.

It took Aunt May's death in No Way Home to get the full quote, as first laid out way back almost 60 years ago. As she lies dying, she tells Peter he did the right thing by attempting to save the villains who crossed into their world, and repeats the whole quote.

Later in the movie, while comparing notes on tragedy, 'our' Peter starts to speak the line, only to have Spider-Maguire finish it, showing that despite different universes, some truths about what Spider-Men stand for never change.
