20 Easter Eggs From Spider-Man: No Way Home You May Have Missed

17. Connections To The Spider-Man Comics

With over 50 years of comic book history to draw from, it was inevitable that there would be shout-outs to aspects of Spidey's paper and ink adventures:

- The overall storyline is drawn from a few comic arcs. Civil War covers the aspect of Peter's identity being made public and of Aunt May's death. The idea of making everyone forget Peter is Spider-Man comes from the (much maligned) One More Day arc and the effects of the spell come from the One Moment In Time story

- During the fight in the woods with Electro, Peter turns the nanotechnology suit inside out, giving it a gold and black colour scheme. This is similar to a suit he wore in the comics during his 'No One Dies' phase, when he vowed to protect every life, even that of super-villains. This reflects his view in this film of saving the captured villains and not just sending them back to their universes to die

- When Electro appears for the final battle, now powered by an arc reactor, the outline when he uses his powers resembles his original comics costume

- When Norman Osborn ultimately reverts to his Green Goblin persona, he is left with torn purple and green clothing in the design and colours of his classic costume

- FEAST, where May works, was introduced in 2008 and also appeared in 2018's Spider-Man game

- Columbia University, where Stephen Strange went to med school, is prominently represented by sweatshirts in the Sanctum Sanctorum
