For many Bond fans, one of the highlights of the films is the supporting cast of M, Q, and Miss Moneypenny. The beleaguered, yet loyal MI6 Quartermaster and M's flirtatious secretary are said to be absent from both Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.

Indeed, in the latter film, audiences were instead introduced not only to a new iteration of M's Chief of Staff, Bill Tanner (Rory Kinnear, making his first of at least four appearances in the role), but also to a completely redesigned MI6 Headquarters that resembles a typical Bond villain's lair.

Therefore, it is easy to overlook Brendan O'Hea's brief appearance as a bespectacled character dressed in tweeds who attempts to explain his findings on the contents of a bank account belonging to M's treacherous bodyguard, Craig Mitchell (Glenn Foster). Only to be told by Tanner that Judi Dench's M is "not in the mood" to discuss these.

In retrospect, with the benefit of having seen SkyFall (2012) in which Ben Whishaw is introduced as the new Q, it may well be that O'Hea was actually portraying Whishaw's predecessor, even though he is only credited as "Forensics Tech" in Quantum of Solace...

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
