5. The L.A. Riots - Straight Outta Compton

The Moment: F. Gary Gray's (The Negotiator, Law Abiding Citizen) biopic of the pre-dominant rap group N.W.A. can't help but examine the cultural touchstones of the era, namely the 1992 Los Angeles riots, which essentially turned the group's iconic tune F*** the Police into a protest anthem, and going by what's been shown off in the trailer, it looks the movie will focus significantly on the incident. Why It Will Define 2015: Because biopics are a dime a dozen these days, but to see a movie tackling such an interesting group of subjects and such an incisive period of American history should prove to be something completely opposed to the norm.
