20 Essential Movie Performances That Will Define 2017
3. Daniel Day-Lewis (Untitled Paul Thomas Anderson Fashion Drama)
The Role: The exact nature of the role isn't yet known, but simply that Day-Lewis will play a legendary fashion designer during his time in 1950s London. The early bets are on real-life fashion designer Charles James.
Why It'll Define 2017: Daniel Day-Lewis works incredibly infrequently, this being his first role since 2012's Lincoln, but he smashes a home-run almost every time he comes out to bat, so to see him re-teaming with director Paul Thomas Anderson for this project is extremely encouraging indeed.
If Day-Lewis is good enough, he could very well become the first person to win four Best Actor Oscars, which would tie him with Katharine Hepburn for the most acting Oscars in history.
