20 Fails That Nearly Killed The Marvel Film Universe

16. Adam Sandler & Jim Carrey Were Considered For Rocket Raccoon (Guardians Of The Galaxy)

When developing Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel Studios reportedly requested the availability of two of cinema's most famous comic actors: Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey, and it was widely believed that this was to potentially play the foul-mouthed yet loveable Rocket Raccoon, who was eventually voiced so brilliantly by Bradley Cooper. Why It Would've Ruined The MCU: Do we really need to explain why Adam Sandler would've been a terrible choice for Rocket? The most annoying thing about Sandler is his ridiculous voice, so we can only imagine how much irritation he would've caused in Guardians. This could potentially have been enough to completely derail the movie, and it likely wouldn't have racked up that impressive $94 million opening weekend. Carrey is a more tolerable choice for sure, though it's still hard to imagine him having the bitter antagonism needed to make the character work. Plus, Carrey isn't really the big box office draw he used to be anymore.
