20 Fantastic Blimps, Balloons, And Dirigibles In Movies

8. The World Is Not Enough (1999)

Sometimes, The World is Not Enough. And other times, a high-speed boat chase down the River Thames trying to catch an international assassin is not enough. In times like that, James Bond has to call in… a hot air balloon? Pierce Brosnan’s third outing as Bond has several unbelievable plot elements, including Denise Richards as a nuclear scientist named Christmas Jones.

However, nothing is more bizarre than an assassin ditching a boat to get on a VERY slowly rising hot air balloon. Bond takes his boat up a ramp, leaps off, and grabs onto a rope hanging off the balloon (don’t people ever stow the ropes on a balloon?). She refuses to be taken alive, and fires her gun at the gas containers on the side of the balloon, blowing herself up and sending Bond careening back to Earth.

Chris Vander Kaay knows the hidden secrets of the world, but he frequently forgets them. He has them written on a piece of paper along with his passwords, but he seems to have misplaced that as well.
