20 Film Directors Who Could Define 2016

9. Tim Miller

Of all the directors feature in this list, Tim Miller is unique in that he has yet to release a single feature film. His entire filmography extends to a pair of animated shorts called Rockfish and Aunt Luisa. In fact, most of Miller€™s work experience comes not from films, but from being the visual effects producer on various video games. €œThen why on Earth is he on this list?€ you might be asking. Well, it€™s because in February 2016, 20th Century Fox will be releasing Tim Miller€™s first live-action movie, Deadpool. Not only is Deadpool an opportunity for Ryan Reynolds to star in a role he was born for, it€™s an opportunity for Tim Miller to show audiences what he€™s capable of as a director. With many critics worried about the onset of so-called €˜superhero fatigue,€™ Deadpool might be the breath of fresh air that comic book movies have been in need of. This could be a breakout directorial debut that launches Tim Miller€™s career into the stratosphere € or it could be a misguided freshman effort by an inexperienced young director. As for me, I€™ll be anxiously waiting for the first reviews to break.
