Joe and Anthony Russo have come quite a long way in quite a short amount of time. Seemingly inseperable, they have written and directed most of their work jointly. For most of their careers, the Russos have focused on comedy their first feature film, Welcome to Collinwood, debuted in 2002. In 2006, they directed the Owen Wilson-headlined comedy You, Me and Dupree. Some of their most prestigious work, however, has been done on television; the Russos directed a number of episodes for the comedy series Arrested Development, for which they won a Primetime Emmy Award. They also worked as directors and producers on the critically-acclaimed NBC comedy series Community. But in 2014, they made the big time both Joe and Anthony Russo were hired by Disney and Marvel Studios to direct Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The film was a massive success, both critically and commercially, earning to Russo brothers a position as directors of Marvels next Avengers film. Before that day comes, however, they have Captain America: Civil War, the follow up to their previous Captain America film. If the Russos can make Civil War as unique and well-directed as The Winter Soldier, we just have one more reason to be optimistic for the future of The Avengers franchise.
