20 Film Franchises That Were Cancelled After One Movie

16. Kung-Pow! Enter The Fist

Flash Gordon
20th Century Fox

Kung Pow! Enter the Fist is a spoof that mocks Hong Kong action movies. Director, writer, and lead star, Steve Oedekerk, uses scenes from the 1976 martial arts film, Tiger & Crane Fists, and repurposed them into this film to make a brand new story. Its humour may be silly and juvenile but you have to give Oedekerk credit for creating a completely unique style of comedy.

But because Kung Pow failed to make a profit, the sequel was put on the back burner. Although the ending of the first film implied the second entry would be more of the same, Oedekerk intended the sequel to be a spaghetti western parody. Oedekerk pushed for this cowboy spoof for 13 years before eventually accepting that it wasn't going to happen.
