Potter Actors Featured: Ralph Fiennes, Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane

This 2012 retelling of Charles Dickens' classic novel was adapted for the screen by David Nicholls and directed by Mike Newel. With Potter stars Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix), Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort) and Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid) giving him outstanding support, the film follows Jeremy Irvine as orphan Pip, a role he won after impressing in Stephen Spielberg's War Horse.

Irvine took the chance with both hands, though when Helena Bonham Carter was asked to appear as Miss Haversham by Newell despite being younger than the character, she was apprehensive. She needn't have been, however, as her talents combined with that of the film's make-up department brought the haggard Haversham we know to life.

Ralph Fiennes, who had never read much Dickens before this role got him hooked, played the criminal Magwitch, whereas Robbie Coltrane played Mr. Jaggers, a lawyer responsible for handling Pip's money. The film received mixed reviews, described by Rotten Tomatoes as breathing just enough life into the source material to justify a new adaptation.
