Ridley Scott's 2005 epic Crusades drama Kingdom of Heaven is the story of a French village blacksmith who travels to Jerusalem to aid the Kingdom in its defence against the forces of sultan Saladin. The film received largely lukewarm receptions from critics and historians alike, with the latter quick to highlight the amount of artistic liberty Scott had taken.

With the exception of ultra-bland leading man Orlando Bloom, the cast were praised for their efforts. Brendan Gleeson (Mad-Eye Moody) starred as Raynald of Châtillon who was the Lord of Oultrejordain from 1175 until his death, and David Thewlis (Remus Lupin) portrayed a member of the Order of Knights of the Hospital of Saint John of Jerusalem.

The third Potter actor appearing here was one whose name might leave even serious fans of the franchise scratching their heads. Bronson Webb, who appears as an apprentice here, played a Slytherin named Pike in the Potter movies, beefing up the numbers for Draco Malfoy and his gang of cretins.
