20 Films That Will Define 2016

5. Deadpool

Release Date: 12th February (US) - 5th February (UK) Director: Tim Miller Starring: Ryan Reynolds, Gina Carano, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein No surprises that Marvel feature here again, but whilst The Avengers are busy destroying each other, Deadpool is busy not giving a single damn about well, anything. Finally after years of speculation, the company's leanest, meanest and downright rudest vigilante is getting his fully-functional film, and the right man was cast. It isn't the first time R-rated material has been spawned from Marvel (titles like The Punisher solidify this fact), but it is a keen break from recent traditions inside the aforementioned MCU. Reynolds' Wade Wilson; a former Special Forces operative turned mercenary, is subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers and leads him to adopt the alter ego Deadpool. After some stills which expertly balanced the humour and jet-black tone of the character, and then the trailer which simply thrilled, this is the Marvel movie many fans will require most in 2016, and thankfully it is the first to arrive. Bound to be violent, abrasive, foul-mouthed fun, Deadpool also stars Carano, Baccarin, Skrein, T.J. Miller and Andre Tricoteux. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyKWUTwSYAs
