20 Films That Will Define 2016

19. Tarzan

Release Date: 1st July (US) - 8th July (UK) Director: David Yates Starring: Alexander Skarsgård, Margot Robbie, John Hurt, Christoph Waltz It would be easy to write off another Tarzan adaptation after the horrors of Casper Van Dien's most recent effort, but with a fantastic director at its helm, and a solid, reliable cast, this 2016 retelling of John Clayton III's legend should serve as an impressive addition. Handled by Yates (who nurtured the Harry Potter franchise for years), scored by Alexandre Desplat and photographed by Henry Braham (who is getting ready to shoot Guardians of the Galaxy 2), the king of the jungle's latest adventure should be a firm entry in your viewing schedule. With Skarsgård as Tarzan and Robbie as Jane, plus support from Hurt, Samuel L. Jackson, Djimon Hounsou and Waltz, who serves as the principal antagonist, audiences can enter their multiplex hopeful that Yates will provide the definitive live-action adaptation. Sadly the film does not contain original music from Phil Collins this time; you'll have to stick to Disney for those additional pleasures...
