The first film was originally intended to play up the flirtatious/oblivious (respectively) relationship between Janine and Egon, with scenes making the pairing more explicit eventually edited out of the final cut. Their relationship was explored a little more in The Real Ghostbusters cartoon, but was gone by the sequel. In Ghostbusters II it looks like Janine is destined to end up with Louis, with Egon having moved onto his lab assistant, whom Venkman ribs him about. "I think she's more interested in my epididymis", Egon shoots back. Get it? The epididymis are the small tubes that connect the vas deferens to the testes. He's talking about his balls.
