There's all sorts of weird and wonderful gadgets in Ghostbusters perfect for merchandising purposes, for examples from the Proton Pack to Egon's PKE Metre. The first film includes some more prosaic props too, including a whole bunch of cutting edge (for the eighties) technology. And some decidedly less so. For example, that little probe think Bill Murray's Peter Venkman uses to probe Dana's (Sigourney Weaver) apartment? That's not another prop, that's a real thing. The United Technologies/ Bacharach 300 Series "Sniffer" was normally used to locate utility gas leaks or low-oxygen hazards.
