20 Gory Movie Moments That Left Horror Fans Cheering
4. Uncle Frank's Death - Hellraiser (1987)
In Clive Barker stories, nobody dies peacefully. Horrors foremost purveyor of sexually perverse and eye-gouging butchery, the prolific English author took a stab at directing with 1987s now-classic Hellraiser, the heartwarming tale of a driven adulteress named Julia (Clare Higgins) and her lover, Frank (Sean Chapman).
When Frank literally returns from hell Julia learns that spilt blood will allow him to reclaim his flesh. So, Julia invites one-night stands home and basically bashes their brains in to help with the process.
At the center of Hellraiser are the Cenobites. Adorned with body piercings, clad in sliced-up S&M black leather outfits, and cursed with inhuman faces, the Cenobites torture and kill through disgustingly hedonistic means. Ultimately the Cenobites catch up with Frank, summoning fish-hooked chains to pierce into his flesh and pull skin off the bone (for a second time). For Pinhead. the OG Cenobite, pain is pleasure. The same can be said for Hellraiser's viewers.
