20 Gory Movie Moments That Left Horror Fans Cheering

14. Literal Bloodbath - Hostel: Part II (2007)

Hostel Part II not-so-subtly winks at critics of the first film (and the €œtorture porn€ subgenre as a whole), who felt that director Eli Roth was using extreme violence for nothing more than arousing and pleasing his audience. In this second film, Roth essentially gives those critics the finger by intentionally throwing in a kill scene that ties bloody death and sexual arousal together in such an over-the-top fashion that it can only be read as a satire of their criticisms.

The controversial and disturbing scene in question follows the unsettling and lingering death of the socially-awkward and uptight character of Eastern European vacationer and art student Lorna (Heather Matarazzo).

Mrs. Báthory (named after storied Hungarian serial killer Elizabeth Báthory) pays to have Lorna tied up and hung upside down above a bathtub surrounded by candles. With a scythe Mrs. Bathory patiently slices and dices Lorna back and front, writhing in visible pleasure as the girl's blood cascades down upon her.
