20 Great Films You Won't Believe Aren't On IMDb's Top 250

9. Shaun Of The Dead

Toy Story 2
Universal Pictures

Rating: 8.0

The IMDb Top 250 is frustratingly dominated by American cinema and British films are frequently left by the wayside. Out of many excluded British classics the one which is the most baffling is probably Edgar Wright's almost-flawless Shaun of the Dead, a peerless mixture of a zombie apocalypse and a rom com.

Given that it's maybe the single most beloved and talked-about British film (barring the Harry Potter and James Bond films) of the 2000s, there is a lot of affection for Edgar Wright's wacky slice of geek heaven. One would've thought such an acclaimed cult classic would rise up in the rankings, and although it's been on the list in the past, it's now fallen off.

Despite being led by two very unintelligent characters and being quite silly in many ways, Shaun of the Dead triumphs as one of the smartest comedies in recent memory. A pitch-perfect combination of gut-bursting gags, involving drama, clever thrills and outstanding comic performances, Shaun of the Dead is a great film that has a special place in the hearts of nerds everywhere.
