20 Greatest Moments From Spider-Man Movies
5. Everyone Forgets Peter Parker - Spider-Man: No Way Home
Spider-Man: No Way Home sure concludes with an unexpected, provocative, and extremely shrewd finale, where after subduing the metaverse villains, Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) tells Peter that the only way to permanently fix the multiverse rift is to make everyone forget who he is.
After saying a brutal farewell to MJ (Zendaya), Peter lets Strange complete the spell, and when Peter later visits MJ and Ned (Jacob Batalon) at the diner where she works, neither has any idea who he is.
Peter then visits Aunt May's (Marisa Tomei) grave, where he sees Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) who similarly doesn't recognise him.
It's a fitting but devastating outcome for Peter, to reap the consequences of his recklessness as a superhero, and sacrifice his own happiness for those closest to him.
It's also a neat way to pull Peter away from the Avengers and allow him to operate with a blank slate of sorts, in the event that Sony and Marvel Studios can come to terms on a new trilogy of films - and assuming Holland is game, of course.
