20 Greatest Moments From Spider-Man Movies
19. "Emo" Peter Parker - Spider-Man 3
Like The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3 gets a lot of justified flak for its weak plot twists, uneven tone, and overabundance of villains.
There are also those who absolutely loathe the "Emo Peter Parker" that emerges once Pete's (Tobey Maguire) infected with the Venom symbiote, but almost 15 years removed from the general disappointment of the movie, you know what? It's a lot easier to enjoy.
Peter's infection causes him to become a cringe-worthy edge-lord with a ridiculous haircut, tons of eyeliner, and all-black attire.
Watching Peter's excessive self-confidence be widely mocked by the women of New York is easy to sneer at, but beyond the fact it was clearly intended to make the audience wince, it's hilarious to see Tobey Maguire committing full-heartedly to this absurd assignment.
If you can't laugh at Peter being a lame dancing goof with an inflated sense of self, you're probably taking comic book movies too seriously.
