The ludicrous pre-release hype for Spider-Man: No Way Home yet again confirms the enduring popularity of the web-slinger, who over the last two decades has appeared in nine major solo movies across four separate continuities.

From Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy to Marc Webb's two Amazing Spider-Man films, the animated masterpiece Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and now the trilogy of MCU Spider-Man films, the character has been represented on-screen more pervasively than almost any other superhero.

And the quality of the films has (mostly) remained pretty high, such that fans have been given more than their fair share of indelible and unforgettable moments to savour.

From landmark aspects of Peter's superhero origin story to insane action sequences, incredible monologues, and devastating death scenes, Spider-Man has been thoroughly well-served in film over the years, despite a few missteps here and there.

Picking just 20 great moments from all these films, most of them good if not great, wasn't easy, but they each represent the big-screen renditions of Spider-Man at his most dynamic, heartfelt, and downright entertaining.

Note that MAJOR SPOILERS will follow for Spider-Man: No Way Home if you haven't seen it yet...

20. The Final Battle Vs. Electro - The Amazing Spider-Man 2

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 may be an abject mess of a film, but it'd be disingenuous to insist that it's not without some highly compelling moments.

As goofy and unappealing a villain as Electro (Jamie Foxx) may be in the movie, his visually stunning final showdown with Spidey sure is an eye-melter alright.

The two have a luminous tussle at Oscorp Power Plant, which while occasionally lurching into outright goofiness - particularly when Electro plays "Itsy Bitsy Spider" on the power conduits - is full of mesmerising imagery, energetic high-wire action, and a neato team-up between Spidey and Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone).

There's a lot to dislike about the movie overall, but this scene absolutely slaps.
