20 Greatest Moments In Wizarding World Movies
8. Sirius Departs - Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban
The best part about Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is its quiet dialogue scenes, which are genuinely superb and hit much harder than you'd expect something from a family film to.
The best one, and the finest overall scene in the film comes at the end, when Sirius Black departs and flies away on Buckbeak. He shares a poignant conversation with Harry first and there's some extremely well-written dialogue here, which is performed to perfection by Gary Oldman. It's a terrific scene, and there's a particularly great call-back to this moment in Deathly Hallows Part Two as well.
Sirius says, "the ones that love us never really leave us. And you can always find them in here." He points at Harry's heart as he says this. In the franchise's final film, when Harry talks to Sirius' spirit through the Resurrection Stone, Sirius points at Harry's heart and, referring to himself, Lupin and Harry's parents, says "We're here, you see." Beautiful.
