20 Greatest Moments In Wizarding World Movies
7. The Obliviate Rain - Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a good spin-off movie, but it is also rather short on memorable moments. Nonetheless, this ending is downright beautiful and sees the film temporarily hitting the five-star level.
In this scene, Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) creates a rain storm in New York with an Obliviate enchantment that wipes the memories of the all the Muggles in New York following the film's events. Unfortunately, this also includes Jacob (Dan Fogler), who has assisted Newt and his allies on their quest to recapture Newt's escaped magical creatures and has also developed a romantic attachment to Queenie (Alison Sudol).
Thanks to the excellent visuals and James Newton Howard's gorgeous musical score, this is an outstanding piece of spectacle and the goodbye between Jacob and his new friends is brilliantly bittersweet. As well as this, Jacob and Queenie's kiss in the rain moment is maybe one of the best kissing-in-the-rain scenes ever, and that's saying something since there are plenty of those out there.
Unfortunately, this obliviation was retconned in the film's ghastly sequel (which, unsurprisingly, is the franchise's only film without a scene on this list), but other than that this is a near-perfect scene.
