Safety Not Guaranteed director Colin Treorrow’s 2015 reboot of the Jurassic Park franchise had some massive shoes to fill. After all, not only was this the lone franchise which led Steven Spielberg to break his own “no sequels” rule with 1997’s The Lost World, but it was also home to some reportedly ambitious (read: bonkers) potential instalments which never saw the light of day, such as Alligator scribe John Sayles’ insane “human-dino hybrid soldiers” script.

Despite these big expectations, Trevorrow succeeded with aplomb, offering an explosive instalment which upped the action ante of the original film to create a larger scale nightmare as well as grounding his story in the cute, easy chemistry between stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. And we haven’t even mentioned the Indominus Rex…
