The Movie: It’s quite amazing that you can still find a channel showing Rod Serling’s The Twilight Zone just about every single day of the week (not to mention a yearly all-New-Year’s-Day marathon on Syfy). For a series that’s over fifty years old to still be this engaging to modern-day audiences is a testament to the sheer power and beauty of Serling’s writing. Imagine the excitement, then, when the theatrical version of the show was released to in 1983.

The Opening Scene: The film starts with a driver and his passenger (Albert Brooks and Dan Aykroyd) driving very late at night, singing along to Creedence Clearwater Revival's cover of Midnight Special on a cassette.

After the tape breaks, this leads to random games being played to pass the time before the passenger asks the driver, "Do you want to see something really scary?" The driver obliges and reluctantly pulls over. The passenger turns his face away, then turns back around having transformed into a monster and attacks the driver. Cue the iconic Twilight Zone theme song; kick in Burgess Meredith’s narration.
