20 Greatest Revenge Movies Of All-Time
2. Kill Bill, Vol. 1 & 2
Very nearly the greatest revenge movie of all, Quentin Tarantino's uber-cool, homage-clad, four-hour long "roaring rampage of revenge" stars Uma Thurman as "The Bride," a former assassin who is gunned down on her wedding day and left for dead. Four years later, she awakens from a coma and sets out to kill (in her own words) the "c*nts" who wronged her - namely the Deadly Viper Assassin Squad, or DiVAS for short.
In order to craft this insanely dense revenge epic, Tarantino borrows from hundreds (perhaps even thousands) of motion pictures. The result is a cinephile's dream; as Tarantino plays the filmic hip-hop artist, taking smaller parts from existing products to create something new, he renders the most compulsive, inventive, twisted and downright bonkers revenge fantasy ever made; a crazy blend of western, samurai and kung-fu movie that practically begs to be watched again and again.
As a result, Uma Thurman's wronged assassin Beatrix Kiddo takes her place as the coolest heroine in all of revenge cinema, and one of the most badass characters ever put on the big screen.
