20 Greatest Video Game Movie Moments EVER
2. The Laser Hallway - Resident Evil (2002)
Paul W.S. Anderson's original Resident Evil remains the best of the series' live-action adaptations, and immortalised itself with a scene that ironically has no basis in the source material whatsoever.
When a squad of commandos, fronted by James "One" Shade (Colin Salmon), attempt to breach the Umbrella AI known as the Red Queen, she deploys a laser defense system in the hallway leading to her mainframe.
The gloriously violent, protracted sequence sees One's team picked off one by one - the lasers decapitating, slicing off fingers, and cutting bodies in half.
Eventually only One is left, and though he initially avoids the laser by clinging to the ceiling, its final means of defense? Firing a boxed grid of lasers down the hallway, and though the lasers are eventually deactivated, they're about a second too late to save One from being cubed into leaky chunks.
We're forced to watch as he falls to bloody pieces, in what's by far the most inspired sequence from any of the Resident Evil movies.
