20 Greatest Video Game Movie Moments EVER

17. Lara Defends Croft Manor - Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001)

Angelina Jolie was perfectly cast to play the original iteration of Lara Croft in the 2001 Tomb Raider movie, as evidenced by an early action sequence where Lara is attacked by armed commandos at Croft Manor.

Lara just so happens to be practising her acrobatics when the mercs break into the manor in search of a precious clock, kickstarting a delirious set-piece where she beats the ever-loving snot out of the bad guys while swinging around like a trapeze artist.

Sure, Lara never ran along walls wearing a bungee cord in the video games, but this scene nevertheless perfectly captured the ferocious, free-wheeling spirit of the First Lady of Gaming.

Plus, during the gunfight that followed, we got to see Lara's butler Hillary - played by Red Dwarf's legendary Chris Barrie - fire a shotgun at the remaining goons, which alone justifies this movie's existence.
