Horror-comedies aren't hard to come by - genuinely funny ones are a rare thing indeed. Tucker And Dale Vs. Evil takes the psychotic hillbillies on a killing rampage and flips it on its head to reveal a stream of genre in-jokes. Tucker and Dale are taking a break from city life in their woodland retreat when they encounter a group of high school students (who else?) at a gas station (where else?). After one of the girls takes a bump to the head in a lake and Tucker and Dale rescue her, the other students assume the worst and formulate a plan to save her from her "psychopathic captors". Given the genre it's lampooning this is nevertheless an amiable comedy which nevertheless gets plenty of laughs from the horror movies it's spoofing; you don't have to be a slasher movie buff to enjoy it, but it certainly helps.
