13. Supergirl Is The Only Hero Heavily Referenced

Possibly the most interesting easter egg in the entire film comes when Clarks first discovering his Kryptonian origins. Exploring the alien craft, he finds two life support chambers; one with a long dead Kryptonian in and the other oddly empty. Immediately, your thoughts jump to the robot Superman saw earlier or perhaps a Kryptonian force other than Zod to threaten Kal. Well the latter is kinda right. In the official Man Of Steel prequel comic, which explores more of Krypton, the fortress is seen, piloted by none other than Kara Zor-El. The cousin of Kal-El, shes better known as Supergirl, last put to rest in the dire 1984 spin off. As this comes from a source penned by the films screenwriter, this is the character nod most likely to actually turn into something. Of course it slightly deviates from the official origins of the character, but we know Man Of Steel isn'tt too concerned with that.
12. Kingdom Come Posters

Theres something very striking about the posters for Man Of Steel. With Superman dominating the frame, bathed in shadow, they rightly promised us a moodier imagining of the character. But while for many cinema goers that was the end of it, for comic fans it was a massive suggestion of not only the films plans, but where the DC Universe could go. The posters were almost exact copies (down to the redesigned S) of covers for the popular Kingdom Come comic series. Presenting an alternate future, the story details a war between the Justice League and more modern, immoral heroes, bringing us a Superman mourning the loss of Lois Lane and working tangentially to Batman. Whether the designs were chosen to suggest what radical directions the DC films may take or just because they look cool is something well have to leave up to wild speculation.
