20 Hidden Movie Frames You Probably Missed In Famous Movies

17. The Movie's Original Title - Cruel Intentions

Fight Club Brad Pitt
Columbia Pictures

While Cruel Intentions may be a relatively straight-forward, gleefully trashy romantic drama, it does contain a rather unexpected secret hidden within its climactic scene.

At the end of the movie, Kathryn's (Sarah Michelle Gellar) sunny reputation is summarily destroyed when her dead half-brother Sebastian's (Ryan Phillippe) journal is published, revealing both her manipulative ways and her cocaine addiction.

Though the journal is named "Cruel Intentions" in our initial glimpse of it, a fleeting shot of Kathryn reading the journal moments later shows an alternate name, "Cruel Inventions."

This is because the film was originally shot under that title, before test screening feedback convinced the studio change it by one letter for fear that people would believe a movie with "inventions" in the title was actually a sci-fi movie (really).

We can therefore assume that the journal cover with the correct title was a pickup shot filmed later.
